Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day resting after your journey or exploring nearby areas if time permits. In the evening, you’ll likely attend a welcome briefing about your upcoming trek, providing essential information and preparing you for the adventure ahead.
On the second day, you’ll either drive (a scenic journey of six to eight hours) or take a short 25-minute flight to Pokhara, a city renowned for its stunning lakeside setting and views of the Annapurna range. Once in Pokhara, you can explore the vibrant markets, enjoy a boat ride on Phewa Lake, and take in the serene beauty of the area.
Your trek begins with a drive from Pokhara to Kande, a journey of about 1.5 hours. From Kande, you’ll start trekking through beautiful rhododendron forests, gradually ascending to Forest Camp. This initial trek offers a mix of gentle trails and some steeper sections, providing a good introduction to the trekking experience. Forest Camp is a tranquil spot nestled in the forest, perfect for your first night on the trail.
Continuing your journey, you’ll trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp. The trail winds through dense forests, with occasional clearings that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. As you gain altitude, the landscape changes, and you begin to see more of the high Himalayan peaks. Low Camp, situated at 2,970 meters, provides a closer look at the majestic Machapuchare (Fishtail) Mountain.
The trek to High Camp is a shorter but steeper climb, taking you above the tree line. The trail offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. As you approach High Camp, located at 3,580 meters, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with vast open spaces and towering peaks surrounding you. High Camp serves as the base for your ascent to Mardi Himal Base Camp.
This is a highlight of your trek. You’ll start early for the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp, which lies at an elevation of 4,500 meters. The trail is challenging, with steep sections and rocky paths, but the effort is rewarded with stunning views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare. After spending some time at the Base Camp, soaking in the incredible vistas, you’ll return to High Camp for the night.
The trek from High Camp to Siding Village involves a long descent through beautiful forested areas and terraced fields. Siding is a traditional Gurung village, offering a glimpse into the local culture and lifestyle. This day’s trek is less strenuous, allowing you to enjoy the serene surroundings and interact with the local community.
On this day, you’ll continue your descent, trekking from Siding Village to Lumre. The trail takes you through more picturesque villages and lush landscapes. Upon reaching Lumre, you’ll be picked up for a drive back to Pokhara. Arriving in Pokhara, you can relax and celebrate the completion of your trek, perhaps with a meal by the lakeside and some leisure activities.
You’ll return to Kathmandu either by driving (a journey of six to eight hours) or taking a quick 25-minute flight. Back in Kathmandu, you have the day to explore more of the city, do some last-minute shopping, or simply relax. This is a good time to reflect on your trekking adventure and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Nepal’s capital.
Your memorable journey in Nepal comes to an end as you are transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. As you leave, you’ll carry with you the incredible experiences and memories from your trek in the majestic Himalayas, ready to share your stories with friends and family back home.
